All Knitting All The Time
So house is clean and ready for the holidays, the way is clear for me to knit worry and guilt free. I am having issues with my Super Secret Projects...not loving them. Usually this isn't a good sign. Sigh. I alternate between SSP and the DIP that I can actually show you! I got far enough along on this new DIP, which still has no name, to show you new pictures, complete with transition!
I am loving the colours of this yarn. I love that I am kept guess what colours are next...I think it's pink, NOPE it's purple. It's going to be a beautiful shawl.
Here's a close up of the transition and new motif--it's the same just spread out a bit.
I see great promise in the pattern and I am super excited about it...more so than my other projects. Blaregh.
Onto other things..I totally stalled on the slippers--I really hate the pattern. The Kitteh is going well...it looks rather, ahem suggestive right now. I'll prolly start the other legs this evening.
Oh stick around...in the next day or two I have a new (previously secret) pattern for you!
It's a weird thing, creativity. I've always been a bit aggravated with my brand of creativity. I am creative/talented with a lot of things. But none of them exceptional or rather none of them is a stand out. I am slightly musical, more than slightly visual, then there's the making of actual objects and the creating of words and stories...my best. I want to and I am drawn to it all...but I only have so much Muse at one time. The more I write, the less I design. The more I design/draw the less I write. The more I play music, the less I write or design. (Although listening to music does tend to re-fill the creative well and gets the creative juices flowing.) I feel pulled in many many directions.
I desperately need to do a re-design of Dubh Croi, the other blog (not to mention the website my mother wants me to create for her). But, I feel all used up. I have been devoting a lot of energy into designing and writing. I have been neglecting the writer part of me for ages (and I was writer before nearly anything else...I drew and makes paper things before I could write). And I want to stop neglecting the Writer.
I guess I am just a little aggravated with my self right now. And I feel the need to rant about it.
On to other things: I promised pictures. This is the cone of Habu Bamboo, HCW sent me (since they had charged my card for it)...one less thing to wind!!
Jamey ordered this from Amy Designs (it was made esp. for me-feeel the love!) for me as a Mother's Day gift. I absolutely adore it. One, it's a bag (and I love bags...perfect yarn/project bag-just needs a handle); B) it's red, black and gold (my favourite colours); and Lastly, it's ASIAN. LOVE it!
And see how wonderfully my yarn complements it? It will certainly be a pleasure to work with this yarn...it'll be a luxurious wrap someday!
(I also took loads of pictures of my local wildflowers. You can find them in Dubh Croi.)
Oh and because all Knitting Blogs whose writes own cats, must have a mascot or two. Here is one of the kitty mascots. Gina, my funny Ginger Tabby.
I've been feeling pretty blah and tired these past few days. But I did manage to knit a bit. Not much though, however I do have lot's of pictures: go figure!
I got myself another knitting bag. Like my husband said, I don't need another one, but I saw it and it was pretty. I didn't think I'd be able to find another one like it again. Grin.
I got lot's more done on the scarf...well...a few rows at least. I also have enough know to show y'all the scale pattern I am knitting on the flip side.
I really love the color and the pattern. This scarf really is teaching me the loveliness of stockinette. I am now looking forward to the straight knit bits rather than the pattern.
And it's so utterly soft.
Anne dropped off her Dem Fischer again...she needs my lace surgery skills once again.
From how she went on I thought it was a huge mistake. But it's very small. An easy fix.
I could repair it now in five minutes, but I want to try doing another lace surgery video so tomorrow I am going to work on both.
I've been feeling pretty sucky for a few days. I haven't been sleeping right...going to bed very late and waking up very late. It had me very drained. Even so, going to bed at a "decent" hour was incredibly hard. I tossed and turned for over an hour and a half. But managed to drag my arse out of bed before 9 am.
I've been in a mood--since yesterday. I blame stress, my cycle, and aggravating words from a "friend." I vegged on Mother's Day--I wasn't even up to knitting. I forced my self to knit two rows on the swallowtail shawl. I have been neglecting that shawl shockingly.
Pfft.
This morning I decided to finally join Twitter [see red box on the side bar] (makes sense--I always have some silly small thing to say--why not broadcast that too). I may get a cell phone soon (yes I know one of the few people left in the free world to get one) and it'll be fun to blog from my cellphone.
A. and I took the kids to the Witte Museum--her son in law came too--so we got some knitting time in while he chased the kids. I am looking forward to some quiet knitting tonight. cross your fingers for me
We did stop by the Yarn Barn--eh, I am reserving finally judgment until they move to the new location this summer. I like the increased floor space, not crazy with the pattern storage (hidden away in binders) and yarn selection I am hoping will improve at the new locale, which will be on San Pedro, near Jackson Keller--it's going to take over a day care.
I's been all around yucky since this weekend. And I am not knitting as much as I like. I feel like I am knitting so slow I am knitting backwards. I don't feel Like I have made progress on anything!
WHIBSIB (awesome Knitting Retreat I go on every spring) is coming up (24 days!!) and I can NOT wait. I am hoping I can get my Neverending Socks finished. 'Course that means I need to finish the garter and Lori's socks first. I have 5 more repeats on the garter to go. Lori's socks are in time out--once again I doubt my ability to count and reason. But I have been working on the Neverending socks for so long--they ought to be finished. They are actually my first pair of socks that I started...but some how they will end up being the third I complete (4th if you count baby booties).
I've got pics--give me a few hours and you'll see some. Edited to Add: yeah it's a lame picture of the dreary sky--no knitting.
